Alison Larmee, L.Ac., MSOM
Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Alison earned a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin, TX (AOMA). She is a Diplomate with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and she is licensed by the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board. She has been practicing in Wilmington since early 2006, and opened Cape Fear Community Acupuncture – the first community clinic in the area – in late 2008. Her practice is now housed at Integrated Therapy Associates.
During her training, Alison worked at White Crane Herbal Medicine, the herbal pharmacy owned by AOMA and staffed by its students and graduates. She also learned Zen Shiatsu bodywork and studied Qi Gong intensively with Master Li Jun Feng, completing a teacher training with him in New Zealand upon graduation. All of these experiences enhanced her education exponentially.
Alison grew up in Connecticut, received her Bachelor’s Degree from the American University (Washington D.C), and lived in San Francisco for five years before moving to Austin to study at AOMA.
Recently, Alison has trained in “Kiiko-style” Japanese acupuncture and moxabustion, learned the “Balance Method” (used in the Community Clinic) from its creator Dr. Richard Tan, and continues to study and teach Qi Gong. She combines all of these techniques with her foundational Oriental Medicine education in deciding which approach best treats each patient. She enjoys empowering her patients in the Cape Fear community, and looks forward to working with you to address your health care needs.
