Yael Gold, Ph.D. – Licensed Psychologist

Yael Gold, Ph.D. – Licensed Psychologist | EMDR Certified | Trauma-Informed Therapist in Wilmington, NC

Dr. Yael Gold is a licensed psychologist with more than thirty years of experience helping individuals navigate the full spectrum of life’s challenges. She brings deep training in trauma-focused psychotherapy, EMDR, mind–body healing, and intergenerational trauma work. For over three decades, she has worked with individuals across the lifespan facing trauma, CPTSD, anxiety, depression, relational wounds, and grief.

At the heart of Dr. Gold’s work is the belief that therapy can be a profoundly healing process when people feel safe, understood, and deeply supported. She helps individuals gently explore how past experiences shape present-day feelings, patterns, and beliefs—inviting greater self-compassion, clarity, and emotional freedom. Her warm, attuned presence allows clients to approach their internal world with curiosity rather than judgment, opening the door for meaningful change and new ways of relating to themselves and others.

Dr. Gold views the mind, body, and spirit as deeply interconnected. Her approach is integrative and holistic, honoring the full context of a person’s life—including their history, their nervous system, and the unseen emotional imprints passed through generations. In addition to being certified by the EMDR International Association, her therapeutic path has included Jungian dream analysis, ancestral exploration, and advanced professional training in intergenerational trauma healing.

A significant part of her professional evolution arose from recognizing her own history as a second-generation Holocaust survivor. This personal awareness deepened and enriched her clinical work, inspiring a commitment to trauma healing not only at the individual level, but across family systems and lineage.

Dr. Gold is the founder and director of Integrated Therapy Associates. She has been practicing in Wilmington, NC since 1994. Prior to private practice, she worked in university settings including the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW), where she helped launch two annual art exhibits featuring the work of sexual abuse survivors. She also organized and led two major women’s conferences: Many Women, Many Stories and Whole Woman, New Millennium.

Dr. Gold earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arizona, her M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She provides therapy to adults of all ages.
